FAQs about Joining WCCLS
What is WCCLS?
WCCLS stands for Washington County Cooperative Library Services. The organization consists of libraries working together to provide greater services.
When will the NPPL be a member of WCCLS?
The official date is July 1, 2007.
How do I apply for a library card?
You will need to bring identification proving that you live in Washington County. A drivers license works great. You can speed up the process by filling out the form available at: www.nplibrary.org/about/getting-a-library-card.
What will change when the library joins WCCLS?
Joining the Cooperative will provide the residents of North Plains with access to print and digital resources beyond what just the NPPL can offer.
One service that will be popular is Interlibrary Loan. With your WCCLS library card, you will be able to request items from the entire WILInet catalog and get them delivered to the NPPL for you to pick up.
We’ll also have access to a plethora of databases containing information not found on the open web, including articles from “The Oregonian” back to 1988 and ReferenceUSA.
How can I request items from other WCCLS libraries?
You can call us (503.647.5051), email us (info@nplibrary.org) or place holds yourself on WILInet (http://www.wilinet.wccls.lib.or.us/ ).
Will you collect fines for overdue items?
No. The Library will continue to be fine free for the time being. The only catch is that if you have an overdue item that can’t be renewed you will be unable to check out more items.
Can I use my North Plains Public Library card at other WCCLS libraries?
The card you’ll recieve from the NPPL will actually be a county wide WCCLS card. It can be used at any WCCLS library.
How much can I borrow from WCCLS libraries?
Generally, cardholders may borrow up to 100 items at a time. However, certain types of materials have special limits. For example, cardholders may only borrow up to 25 DVDs and 25 CDs at any given time.
Where can I return materials?
Return materials to any Washington County Cooperative Library Services member library. The WCCLS Courier delivery system will return them to the owning locations. A notable exception to this are the Cultural Pass to Adventure Passes that must be returned to the lending library.
What is WILInet?
It is the WCCLS library catalog. Access it at http://www.wilinet.wccls.lib.or.us
How long can I check items out?
Most books and audio items are loaned for 21 days, most videos and DVDs for 7 days, and Cultural Passes for 24 hours. Other special materials may have different loan periods.
Refer to your check out receipt provided when you check out materials for a list of each item and when it is due. If you don’t have your receipt, you may also review a list of all items checked out on your card and when they are due:
