Important Dates
- Registration begins Monday, June 2nd!
- Registration closes Monday, June 30th
- Turn in your reading log no later than Saturday, AUGUST 9TH
How the program works
- All children entering 6th grade and younger can register for the program.
- You may register for the reading programs any time on or after June 2nd.
- Set a reading goal to decide how many books or pages you plan to read by Saturday, August 9th.
- Kids who turn in the title of at least one book read by August 9th will receive an invitation to the Buggy Ball.
- The Buggy Ball (our finale party) will be held Friday, August 15th, 6:30pm-8pm, at Jessie Mays Community Hall.
- Kids who complete their reading goals and turn in reading logs by August 9th will also be eligible to receive a free book!
- We will begin awarding books and other prizes at the Buggy Ball on Friday, August 15th (no early requests for prizes, please).
- Kids who are not able to attend the Buggy Ball may pick up prizes at the library Monday, August 18th – Saturday, September 6th.
- You’ll receive a reading log to record the titles of books or number of pages you read this summer (or print one off of the website).
- The library has planned some special programs, so put them on your calendar!
- Everyone who completes the program by finishing their contract will be invited to a final party with certificates and rewards.

Slugs, Bugs & Tales – Thursday, July 10, 2pm
Master Storyteller Christopher Leebrick captivates his audience with tales of creepy crawlies, Mr. Slug, and stories from his nationally award-winning CDs.
Age Limits: 4-104 - Telling Tales with Eric Kimmel! – Tuesday, July 15, 2pm
Guest author Eric A. Kimmel will not only share some of his most recent books. He will give us a “behind the scenes” at the thinking that goes into creating a story. Bring any questions you may have about books and writing. Among the titles Eric will tale about are “The Three Cabritos,” “The Great Texas Hamster Drive,” “Stormy’s Hat,” “The Fisherman and theTurtle,” and the next Anansi story, to be published in the fall of 2008. - The Tom Question Show: Juggling, Madness and Mayhem in a big, BIG WAY! – Thursday, July 17, 4:30pm
Stiltwalking, jugging, audience Participation, and exciting comedy for the whole family!
Age Limits: All Ages welcome - ¡HAY CARAMBA!: The Barking Mouse – Thursday, July 24, 2pm
Enjoy a charming puppet show which reveals the importance of being bilingual. A Spanish speaking mouse family enjoys its picnic until a cat threatens it. The mother mouse must save the day by demonstrating her ability to speak another language. “Hay Caramba” presents this bilingual production with storytelling, music and a parade of shadow puppets.
